miles... (inaudible) they want to help in any way that they possibly can. (inaudible) before we do that, we would like to announce a very special guest, actually... mayor lee. ... >> mayor lee. >> i can't begin to tell you how excited i am for white house... and the (inaudible) president's fellowship program to be announced here and to see a national effort to join the

local efforts. i will start out to tell you what happened to me coming a few years when i first started in government. the first years as a very brash and passionate attorney. now i have a lot of strong feelings about... (inaudible) low income tenants and the department of building inspection and fire department. the wave of the streets were conducted that will be safe in the public housing project ts. and during those years, 23 years ago. really kind of change... (inaudible) or you have to sue it to change it. of course, as an attorney (inaudible). of course, i litigated against the city for some years and got convinced that maybe that does not end up in all of the best

results. so i got enticed by (inaudible) to start working in it and... required the people in the city government who wanted to do better but simply did not know how. the passion was there. the passion from our communities have been there for many, many years. and so, fast forward 20 years later i am the mayor of this crazy place and i tried... (inaudible). and i think the great way of doing that is to model new ways to an old passion and as people who want to solve problems and people who have passion to get other people involved in the community and government and people who have a passion to help others. people who have the passion to pledge the welfare of the city ahead of their own success. that is what i want to see happen in government. and so, a lot of it is called innovations because, guess what? i learned very quickly, from

years of working with christene and others, innovation is not just about technology, it is about a spirit of being willing to solve problems for a larger (inaudible) that is what i have always kept as a close objective. my role in government. so it is with that i wanted to thank the number of people here, first and foremost, ted (inaudible) and america, and just this place, (inaudible) america that has been really very helpful to insight a lot more innovative spirit in everybody and i said what is your passion? and how can we get people who share that same passion to break the barriers of either the lack of technology or education level to really work together to collaborate even further. and so, we were... service, and we are (inaudible) america next year to become partner and tackle the issues that we have been struggling with in

government. i also want to thank, mike (inaudible) he is here. mike is the head of a city hall fellows for quite some years. and in fact, i think that he is responsible for some set of (inaudible) of students that come through the city since 2008 helping us and helping the department solve problems and being additional eyes and ears on creative ways to communicate with our citizenry to solve problems and public safety. i want to thank ron con way who was helped me at the ffc, the initiative for technology and innovation. and here our new (inaudible) the new chamber of commerce and it is not us, so much, helping them, it is they are asking, now over 304 (inaudible)... >> 305. >> 305. girls, over night. with technology companies that

are helping us build a very strong partnership on how to solve the problems that will eventually help create jobs and solve issues that we have watched over for, issues such as how to (inaudible) how do you share more information with where the buses are going? how do you get parking solved in this great city? how do you match up bicycle lanes with traffic places so that each one of them, the drivers and the bicyclists are safe in our town? just a whole host of things. here is bob he is the head of professional engineers, because we want to do it with our people. that is what... we solve... last year was a huge challenges in our city. (inaudible) city.

litigation for years to come, bob, because they want to work with our labor to try to get successes building. and now we have the opportunity to work with (inaudible) who are going to give us all of our technology, (inaudible) in the city. to excite them, because, some of the things that i learned very early is, people who don't know what we are trying to do will maybe think in fear, is it my job at stake? because of the technology? or am i going to be (inaudible) because of technology? >> and at the end of the day, everybody's job is enhanced not limiting. you will be asked to do more with less. we have to do more and this is where the role of technology and our passions come together. >> and i want to also thank our department of human services as well. they have been very active in helping us figure out more on the workforce issues as we try to get more into a modern (inaudible). all of these recognitions are

in anticipation of all of those... two of those. the first one, which (inaudible) [ applause ] >> you know, we are getting ready because we declared the month of october the innovation month and that is when we clinched the nationally (inaudible) and the other one that i made in recognition and certainly taking the lead from president obama and the white house presidential fellows. is that we are today, announcing our own mayor's city hall innovation fellows as a program in san francisco. [ applause ] >> and collaborate their own passions for improving our city. we made this announcement very early because we want the same thing.

we want fellows that have come through for years in the first generation of programs to meet the fellows programs 2021, and global technology and the (inaudible) sector to help these fellows help us. and so we will ask and make applications available for those who want to help us really solve some issues in our city. and allow these things, the collaboration that we have and the target history and the (inaudible) members and other members, we are going to be asking, (inaudible) to step up, not just on the weekend, not just when they have time, this is a business proposition for the city. we truly want to change the way that we do things. we don't have to build (inaudible), we can do them through our passion of wanting the best way to do things for our citizen and for our businesses in san francisco. and so, we are going to establish a city hall

innovation fellows program that recruits people and recruits companies who will pay their employees to help us (inaudible) at city hall and tackle all of the constant (inaudible) problems whether it is with their e-mail systems or different technology systems. or, whether we can innovate with the public about how to get better services out there to tackle lots of issues in the neighborhoods. we have got a lot of things, that are happening in the month of october. i said that it is our innovation month. and i want to invite all of you to kind of an open house that we have. i think that we have some 74 different companies for participating open (inaudible). kind of our open house. they got to introduce themselves to both communities everybody, be free to go in and see how people tackle the problems that they are working on and open up that with the local communities and others. (inaudible) we have got open

data and it is still something that chris started and jane is now picking up, our chief innovation officer for the city. and james is heading up the (inaudible) data efforts for us to generate more data out there. so the companies are our local, entrepreneurs to create the projects for our city. all of that, in addition to many new things are working with, even the new... accelerated which is kind of identifying the new (inaudible) with the new technology world. there is a lot of accelerating incubating that is going on in our city. and i am excited that we get to make this announcement of our city innovation fellow to really follow the lead of our president and make our communities more prosperous, and i think that we have got a great (inaudible) and you know, at the end of the day, not only

want to improve the city, i want everybody... (inaudible) of all incomes to really be able to access the wonderful economy that we are involved in, with all of our different, new, companies that are coming in. like apples... (inaudible) to write a future. to be able to live in an exciting vibrant city. i am so glad that we have to have such a compliment with innovation at such a level, thank you very much. [ applause ] >> thank you, so much, for your incredibly exciting (inaudible) i am sure that you will get tons of applicants for the fellow. and one thing that i can say is if you follow... you are actually following (inaudible) for her as inspiration for all of this. and what a wonderful movement

it is. so what we are going to do now is actually move into the interactive portion of the (inaudible). so you can decide which one you want to join. and on the two break out sessions happening at the same time and then the break-out sessions, one for the... (inaudible) and the other for... and which do you want to go to. so the first project, we talked about in detail is called the open data initiatives program. it is very much building on what steve was talking about. the idea of this project was to liberate the data from the vault (inaudible) >> >> >>

super bowl bid committee, which i'm excited and thrilled to say. [ applause ] >> we were waiting for the nfl's announcement. we got that tuesday. now we can talk more. i want to acknowledge chris kelly, pat gallager, jim wonderman, we are expecting ron conway and mary murphy to join us. i also wanted to turn the microphone over to mayor lee to talk about why we are here. that is to unveil our logo, social media campaign. we will have rich

silverstein, the head of this amazing ad agency working the past month to come to this point. we are going to hear from the ceo of the 49ers, jet york as well. supervisor mark ferrell, who will be our key liaison to the board of supervisors here in san francisco i want to acknowledge mayor reeve and williams weren't able to make it. we are committed to the effort and our theme of bringing the bowl to the bay. that will be important because we can't do this alone. we are excited to work with them as well. without furthered adieu i will ask mayor lee to come up and perform, talk about the first tweet and our social media campaign. >> great, thank you. thank you, daniel. [applause] >> thank you very much for your leadership on this as

well. i knew that when we sat down and talked about this kind of little dream we had that you became the perfect leader for us. it has come out clearly that was not only the correct decision but really enthusiastic, so thank you for stepping up. let me begin by saying there was some vibration this morning. yes, part of it, we were doing the california shake-up drill with 9.3 million in the state of california, but i think there was vibrations. mayor mathews and mayor reed were jumping up and down because i told them we were putting together something that would not only be a great way to work together but something they have also been personally wishing could happen and be led by the city.

so today we are of course unveiling our promotional launch but getting here has been something on my mind. it's been one of those very solid topic that jen and i spent good time together. my office, where i call it inappropriately the man cave, but it is a place where i think we have had a chance to talk about the honest going relationship that the niners, the oldest professional sports franchise in the state of california, that's still here in the state of california. it is wonderful to have this opportunity. we have other ideas we can't talk about yet because they are not matured but this came to us fast. it was an opportunity we have rarely. but to be able to be invited by the national

football league to submit a bid and build up a course of support is incredibly helpful to the city. i have been looking for those days where we celebrated just as enthusiastically those super bowl wins with joe montana, steve young and coming down market street. as we did with the giants a year and a half to two years ago. these were incredible inspirational opportunities we have, now hosting a super bowl. being part of a bay area effort to bring this incredibly helpful event that isn't just one few hours worth of games. there's all kinds of events that happen during super bowl week. i believe that the bulk of them will be hosted here in san francisco because this will be where we reflect strong infrastructure of tourism, where we host things and do well.

this is what san francisco is about. we have an incredible committee of people that have volunteered and put forth i want to be part of this team effort to, build a bay area super bowl event that will be not only long lasting for the sports itself but with daniel's leadership and supervisor feral that's been such an incredible partner in the dialogue to help us form our ideas. and for somebody who's spnt his personal time creating the educational links between our school district and kids and parents, to created a decisional open space in private efforts, we have the right team. today, in concert with mayor mathews and mayor reed with people in

business, philanthropy, academia coming together, certainly under the very large umbrella of wanting and wishing and making sure this is the most philanthropic event the world's ever seen. it is appropriately hosted in san francisco. i have often heard when something happens in the city they want it to city. when something happens in san francisco, we want the whole world to know about it. this is a stage. super bowl will be a stage we want to announce to the whole world. in that effort i want to make sure you know we don't leave out what i think is happening with great organizations like sf city and our technology companies, that we want to embrace technology as a way to announce this. so with that i am going to do the first tweet.

tweeting. the new hash tag we would like everybody in the bay area to also utilize in their effort to go viral on this. there it goes. hopefully it goes on there. the hash tag sf super bowl! [applause] >> this is one example. facebook, google plus, instagram. we have all these wires in having people talk to us. what would they want and establish it, what kind of events that will help us be even more philanthropic about this. san francisco, santa clara, san jose, we want that effort to insight people to take this opportunity to

join our nfl, join our 49ers, to join all of our sports crazy efforts and education efforts and all the things that we really reflect success in the san francisco bay area to join us in promoting this event and making sure that when we are ready to submit our bid to the nfl in may of next year that we will have created a community-based bay area wide effort to reflect on this wonderful opportunity. right now it is only an invitation but we will show this allows us to create the most collaborative efforts with segments of business education, bay area, the different mayors coming together, bringing us all together on this incredible opportunity. i have always thought that

sports is an inspiration. i'm a big fan of 9ers, i know they will have an opportunity to win tonight. but it inspires us to think through what we can do together in collaboration. winning is certainly a great thing to have. but i think we win on many more fronts when we bring people together and focus on a larger goal, that winning means generations of kids win. our economy wins. what i think are things that we do well. all of so many other aspects of our society win out when we use these opportunities and invite a lot more to come together and think creatively as we are the innovation capital of the world. we will continue to do that and continue to invite more partners to be our partners in this great event. go sf super bowl! [applause]

>> mayor lee, it is an honor to be chairing this committee. we won't be able to do this without you so thank you for your support today. we have a lot of folks around us. and one silverstein. [ laughter] >> all about rich. i just want to say thank you to the team at goodby silverstein, the social media campaign. you have worked incredibly hard. rich, your team is amazing. come up here and tell everybody about the logo and the campaign. than that. we have remarkable area. we have a great group of people. the logo really reflects the expressiveness and vibrancy and casualness of the bay area. it is a very unique place in all of america. we also live in the technology center of what is going on in the nation and maybe the world. we really wanted to draft off the modern cleanliness of those companies, of google, twitter, apple, yahoo!, facebook. probably forget someone. they are fueling the economy, we want to draft off that. that makes this interesting. we added a hash tag to the name. no one's done that. we want the bay area -- i guess there are 8 million, maybe more or maybe less, we want them all to participate. by this logo it says come on, let's show the nfl we

are in this together that. is pretty much it. [applause] >> short and sweet. thank you, rich silverstein. listen, the ceo of the 9ers is here. obviously this is not happening if the 9ers are not building a state-of-the-art, brand-new facility. we are excited to see it. it is going up fast. will it be ready in time for super bowl 50. we hope we have the honor of hosting it. mr. york. [applause] >> it is a pleasure to be here and bid for super bowl 50. the last time there was a super bowl in northern california i wasn't quite 4 years old. you have super bowl in palo alto at stanford stadium that the 49ers happen to

plan and happen to win. it would be nice to recreate that type of feeling where you bring the entire bay area together. not just for a game but potentially a super bowl parade on market street afterwards, that be nice? we have worked hard for a very long time to build a state-of-the-art stadium. that is not something easy to do. when you look at what this stadium will represent, will it represent the bay area, all of northern california from the sft ware driven stadium that the smart stadium we will where you will have ticket lists, cash lists, great food options that are local organic options. you will have great infrastructure, you will have all the things that make a super bowl an unbelievable experience. i'm happy to see a football team bring a region

together for the largest day in sports. more people for one single event will be watching this than just about anything in the world. i'm happy to go to work with the other owners, lobby the other nfl owners to make sure they see how great the bay area can be. it will be an unbelievable time, unbelievable event. we need everybody to make it work. so i will turn it over to daniel, because he's got a lot of work to do. i called supervisor mark ferrell before the news came. i know he's been working hard on this. i asked if he would be willing to be our point person for the board of supervisors. he is excited and i'm happy

to be working on this. >> thanks, daniel. to mayor lee as well. board president david chu, jed, mr. silverstein. thank you. how lucky are we? over the past few weeks we have seen america's cup, fleet week, giants home games, 49ers and countless other festivals. as we sit here a few hours from another great day of san francisco sports, with the 9ers hosting the seahawks, going to beat them. hosting the cardinals in st. louis and winning game four. today we can celebrate the bid for the next super bowl in san francisco and bay area. as has been mentioned the super bowl is a world class event and deserves a world class city and world class region to host it. as a kid who grew up here in san francisco and in the

fall to trek every sunday to candlestick park to watch the 49ers play, now this is such an exciting time that we get to have the chance to host the event that we only got to watch on tv for the past few decades. what an incredible time for our city. even if the super bowl's played down the road in santa clara, for us, these are the san francisco 49ers. always have been, always will be. san francisco 49er fan also be so excited and come together as a region and city behind this. it will have enormous impacts, bringing the neighborhoods together from sunset to bay view. think about the thousands of jobs. hundreds of millions of economic activity for our city. more importantly the opportunity to display san francisco on the world stage. when we had america's cup a
